The Science of Social Behavior

HD 4580/SOC 4580/ILR 4580/COMM 4580

This is a capstone seminar for seniors who are interested in graduate study in scientific disciplines that focus on human behavior. The course is designed to mirror the introductory course HD/SOC 1840 Six Pretty Good Books, using the same set of readings, but the format is a 1.5 weekly seminar rather than lecture and the intent is to provide students with an opportunity to summon, integrate, and apply insights that they have acquired over the course of their four years of undergraduate education. Students will also have the opportunity to also enroll in HD 4030 for 1 credit to lead discussions among first year students reading these same books, though this latter option is not required and is not the focus of the seminar.
