Race and Social Entrepreneurship: Education Reform and Environmental Justice

ASRC 4330

This seminar examines entrepreneurial approaches to addressing racial inequality.  Focusing on education reform and environmental justice movements, we consider innovative responses that seek to make a meaningful social intervention in raced based social inequality. Drawing on theoretical and historical scholarship, along with case studies, students will explore organizations and experiments that have sought to make a substantive difference. This seminar will offer students the opportunity to conduct hands-on research assessing the feasibility of various approaches to solving social problems and then ask them to propose solutions in the form of an organization, research study or public policy initiative that will be evaluated by Cornell alum with relevant experience.
